Polycarbonate vs. Perspex/ Plexiglass

Should I use Polycarbonate or Perspex/ Plexiglass windows in my car?

We often get asked where Polycarbonate, Perspex, or Plexiglass is best for racing applications. Well if you're racing or rallying, then you need to use Polycarbonate (Lexan, Makrolon, Arla) as it is a shatterproof plastic. It is not unbreakable, but when it does break it will usually only break in half and not shatter into dangerous pieces like Plexiglass and Perspex will.

Plexiglass and Perspex are ACRYLIC based products. When used in its appropriate place -for instance road going classic cars which used Perspex or Plexiglass for their original windows- it is a very good strong material that cleans and polishes well but we would not advise using it in competition.
